Simple.  You don't.  To know the percentage, you need to know the total.
Since you don't know the total, you don't know the percentage.  Take a look
at IE when it is downloading.  If it knows the total size, it will show
progress as a percentage.  If it doesn't know the total size, it will show
progress as kilobytes.
